In 2017, my husband and I started Melody of Comfort right here in Detroit with a simple idea: clothing should feel like home. As a Black-owned, woman-owned, and veteran-owned business, we wanted to create something that reflected who we are — comfortable, nostalgic, and unapologetically confident. So we designed apparel and accessories inspired by 90’s style, handcrafted by our trusted manufacturer, and made them affordable enough for everyone to enjoy.

But Melody of Comfort has always been about more than clothes. Detroit raised us, and giving back to this city is part of who we are. Whether it’s donating to causes like the Karmanos Cancer Center, supporting local nonprofits, shouting out fellow small businesses on our platforms, or simply showing up for community events, we believe in putting our money and our presence where our heart is. We’re a small business, but we’ve never let that stop us from making a big impact.

Every piece we create carries a little bit of Detroit in it — and a lot of love for the people who make this city what it is. For us, building a brand isn’t just about growing a business. It’s about building each other up along the way.
